Your data and privacy
What you can export
Section titled “What you can export”| What | Where | Format |
|---|---|---|
| All your chats | Settings → Data Controls → Export Chats | One JSON file |
| One chat | The chat’s ⋯ menu → Download | JSON or plain text |
| Archived chats | User menu → Archived chats → Export All Archived Chats | JSON |
| Your paper library | Library → Export | BibTeX, RIS (imports into Zotero) or CSV |
| An artifact | The artifact’s toolbar → Download | Depends on the kind — see Artifacts |
The chat JSON is CoChat’s own format. It round-trips through Import Chats on the same Data Controls tab, so it’s a good backup, but it isn’t designed for other tools.
What you can delete yourself
Section titled “What you can delete yourself”| What | Where |
|---|---|
| A chat | Its ⋯ menu → Delete |
| All chats | Settings → Data Controls → Delete All Chats (permanent) |
| A memory | Settings → Personalization → Manage memories |
| A paper | The Library table or the paper drawer |
| An artifact | Delete the chat it belongs to; untick Publish to revoke a public link |
| A connected tool | Integrations → the bin button on its card |
| A paired computer | Environments → Revoke |
| Your API key | Settings → Account → Delete API key |
Archiving a chat is reversible; deleting is not.
Deleting your account
Section titled “Deleting your account”Go to Settings → Account → Delete account, or open app.cochat.ai/delete-account in a browser (it asks you to sign in first).
- Type DELETE to confirm. If you signed in more than 10 minutes ago, CoChat asks you to sign in again first.
- The deletion happens at once and can’t be undone. It removes your personal account and every workspace profile, with everything in them: chats, files, projects, assistants, memories, integrations and settings.
- Your messages in other people’s shared chats are removed and show as “Message deleted”.
- A paid plan stops at once, with no refund, and remaining credits are lost.
- An organization you own passes to another member; an organization where you’re the only member is deleted.
- CoChat’s analytics and email services delete you too. Payment records stay for the accounts, without your name or email.
If you can’t sign in, email hello@cochat.ai from the address on the account and support deletes it for you.
Things that need support
Section titled “Things that need support”Email hello@cochat.ai for:
- A full export of everything — memories, projects, automations, files and artifacts aren’t covered by the chat export.
- Signing out of other devices. The user menu’s Sign out only signs out the browser you’re in.
- Changing your email address or the sign-in provider linked to your account.
Age requirement
Section titled “Age requirement”CoChat is for people 13 and older. If your chats suggest you may be younger, CoChat asks for your birth year before you can continue — only once. We keep only whether you are 13–17 or 18 and over, never the date itself.
If the answer is under 13, the account is closed straight away and it is deleted, with its data, after 7 days. If that was a mistake, email hello@cochat.ai before then.
Passwords
Section titled “Passwords”Forgot it: on the sign-in page click Forgot password, enter your email and click Send Reset Link. If an account exists for that address you’ll get an email; check spam if it doesn’t arrive. The link takes you to a page where you set a new password.
Know it: Settings → Account → Change Password.
Emails from CoChat
Section titled “Emails from CoChat”Two digest emails are on by default and can be switched off in Settings → Notifications: the weekly project digest and the Radar digest of new papers matching your research questions.
